Ensure the phone is disconnected from power.
Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover, as close to the edge as possible.
Apply more heat if you have trouble creating a gap, but follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
Leave both opening picks in place to prevent resealing.
Cool adhesive may require reheating before cutting.
Insert only the tip (~ 4-5 mm) of an opening pick when slicing near the camera assembly to avoid damage.
Insert a 5th opening pick under the top left corner.
Remove the back cover.
Be sure to power it down completely before proceeding.
Insert an opening pick underneath the left bottom end of the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly.
Insert a opening pick at the bottom end of the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly.
Disconnect the charging coil by carefully prying its connector straight up using a spudger.
Disconnect the NFC antenna by gently prying the connector straight up with a spudger.
Remove the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly's retaining screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly using tweezers or your fingers.
Disconnect the battery cable by prying the connector straight up with a spudger.
Remove the four 3.9 mm screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert spudger into the gap between top edge of loudspeaker assembly and midframe.
Disconnect and remove the loudspeaker assembly.
When reinstalling, clean areas thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) before applying new adhesive as needed.
Check if you need to remove the motherboard or replace the battery before proceeding.
Disconnect the interconnect flex cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.
Be careful not to damage the interconnect flex cable or its connectors.
Disconnect the main flex cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.
Disconnect the power button flex cable using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Do not fold the cable sharply as this can cause damage.
Fold the display flex cable towards the charging port for access to the battery.
Use a small piece of tape to temporarily secure the cable if needed, to avoid accidental damage during battery removal.
Using high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol alone may not be sufficient, as the battery adhesive can be very strong.
Do not over-saturate with isopropyl alcohol - it may seep into cutouts and damage the screen or loosen its adhesive.
Allow isopropyl alcohol to penetrate for at least two to three minutes before reassessing the battery's removal.
Insert the opening pick into the wider midframe-battery gap for more space and leverage.
Secure a suction handle to the battery, as close to the battery edge as possible, to avoid damaging the display.
Be cautious not to puncture or bend the battery, as this may cause chemical leaks or thermal events.
If using a standard suction cup, try switching to a heavy-duty suction cup for better grip.
Remove the battery, taking care to peel off any remaining adhesive.
Wait at least 10 minutes if using isopropyl alcohol for the old adhesive to completely evaporate before installing a new battery.
