Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Back Cover Replacement

Retaining water resistance is not guaranteed after repair; adhesive reapplied incorrectly may compromise device's IP rating.

  • Back cover replacement requires this guide.
  • Reapplying adhesive properly is crucial to maintain water resistance (IP rating).

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Unplug your phone and power it off.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the back cover for at least three minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat the device as the display and internal battery may be damaged by excessive heat.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Secure a suction handle to the back cover's bottom edge, as close to the edge as possible.

If the back cover is badly cracked, applying clear packing tape may allow the suction cup to adhere or you can use very strong tape instead. If all else fails, superglue the suction cup in place.

  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and the frame.
  • If no gap is created, apply more heat to soften the adhesive further, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom left corner to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive
