Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Vibration Motor Replacement

This guide is for replacing the vibration motor on a Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus SM-G996B/DS (international) model. Be aware that other models may have an additional antenna cable, so check your device's design before proceeding.

  • When reassembling, ensure to replace the adhesive seals to maintain water protection for your device.
  • Have replacement adhesive ready for reattaching components during the reassembly process.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

When slicing near the camera assembly, insert only the tip of the opening pick (~4-5 mm) to avoid damaging or smearing the camera.

  • Insert a fourth opening pick underneath the top right corner of your phone, taking care not to touch any other components.

  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Avoid damaging the power and volume button flex cable when slicing near the power button.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick underneath the bottom left corner.
  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge of the back cover to slice the remaining adhesive.
  • When near the power button, insert only ~3-4 mm of the pick's tip to protect the flex cable.

Step 7 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

Be sure to power your phone back down completely before proceeding.

  • Power on and test all functions during reassembly to ensure everything is working properly.
  • Use a pair of tweezers or fingers to remove any adhesive chunks.
  • Clean the area with high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol to wipe away any adhesive residue.

For Samsung custom-cut adhesives, follow the dedicated guide.

For double-sided tape, refer to the separate instructions provided for its specific use case.

Bent or punctured batteries can leak hazardous chemicals or trigger a thermal event, so exercise caution.

  • Be aware of the cable beneath the charging coil when sliding your pick.
  • Stop the pick if it catches on the cable to avoid damage.

Risk of damaging the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly if you catch the pick on the cable.

  • Insert an opening pick underneath the left bottom end of the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly.
  • Carefully slide the opening pick along the bottom left edge to separate it from the battery.
