Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Display Cable Replacement

This guide replaces the display cable on Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus SM-G996B/DS models. Note that international versions may have an additional antenna cable in the midframe.

  • Replacing the adhesive seals is required for water protection, but it's not necessary for device functionality.

Use replacement adhesive to reattach components during reassembly.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the back cover for at least three minutes.

  • For added effectiveness, a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate can be used.
  • Beware of overheating the phone; the display and internal battery are prone to heat damage.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Secure a suction handle to the back cover's bottom edge, as close to the edge as possible.

If the back cover is cracked, the suction handle may not stick; try lifting it with strong tape or superglue it in place and allow it to cure before proceeding.

  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the cover and frame.
  • If you have trouble creating a gap, apply more heat and follow the iOpener instructions carefully to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom left corner to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive
