Samsung Galaxy S21 Wireless Charging Coil Replacement

Discharge battery below 25% before disassembly to prevent thermal event risk.

  • Battery Safety Precaution: If swollen, take appropriate precautions.
  • Acquire replacement adhesive for successful completion of this repair.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 1 image

Power off your phone completely before starting.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate. Be cautious not to overheat and damage sensitive components such as the display, internal battery, and plastic back cover.

Apply a suction cup to the back of the phone, near the center bottom edge.

Pull up firmly but carefully on the suction cup to create a gap between the back cover and frame.

  • If having trouble, apply more heat to the edge and try again.

Insert an opening pick into the gap, but only about 5 mm deep to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Step 3 image

Slide the pick back and forth along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.

Do not remove the pick, as this can cause the adhesive to reseal.

Step 4 | Heat the left edge

Step 4 image

Apply iOpener to the left edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.

Step 5 | Separate the left adhesive

Do not cut past the camera shell — risk of damaging the back cover.

  • Slide a strong opening pick along the left edge towards the bottom left corner.
  • The goal is to cut the adhesive, but do not go too far.
  • Leave the pick in place after cutting to prevent resealing.

Step 7 | Heat the right edge

Step 7 image

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.

Step 8 | Separate the right adhesive

Thumbnail 3

Insert the opening pick into the top-right corner of the phone.

Limit insertion depth to 5 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

The same procedure can be applied to other corners, but not the top-left due to the rear-facing camera.

Step 11 | Reposition the opening picks

Step 11 image

  • Position the top-most opening pick near the camera lens.
  • Move the left-edge pick alongside the device's edge.

Rotate the back cover counterclockwise to create a gap between the camera shell and the frame.

  • Insert the opening pick up to 5 mm only, being careful not to scratch the camera.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

If this method does not work, proceed with caution to the next step for an alternative method; otherwise, skip the next step.

Locate and carefully remove additional adhesive to the right of the camera.

Be aware of a plate around the flash that may cause the pick to get stuck.

Align the opening pick's tip with your phone's flash.

  • Insert the pick slowly, avoiding the flash's plate.

Remove the back cover.

  • If stuck, slide a pick around the edges to separate completely.
  • During reassembly:
    • Power on phone and test functions before sealing.
    • Completely power down phone before continuing.

Remove adhesive chunks with tweezers or fingers.

Use high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol to clean residue.

  • If using Samsung custom-cut adhesives, follow the provided guide.
  • If using double-sided tape, follow the provided guide.
