Discharge the battery to under 25% before disassembly to avoid a hazardous thermal event.

  • Note: If the battery is swollen, exercise caution and take necessary precautions.
  • Follow this guide for removal or replacement of the primary interconnect cable on your Samsung Galaxy S21.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 1 image

Power off your phone completely before starting.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
  • Alternative methods:

Apply a suction cup to the back of the phone, near the center of the bottom edge.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the back cover and frame.
  • If having trouble, apply more heat to the edge and try again. Be aware that older phones may be more difficult to access.

Only insert an opening pick up to 5 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Do not cut past the camera area — risk of cracking the plastic.

  • Slide an opening pick along the left edge towards the bottom left corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 7 | Heat the right edge

Step 7 image

Apply a iOpener to the right edge of the back cover and heat it for 2 minutes.
