Samsung Galaxy S20 Screen Replacement

Note: The risk of damaging the fragile display panel is high.

  • Ensure you have the correct screen assembly part, which may include a new frame (chassis) with pre-installed replacement screen.
  • Replace the entire screen assembly, comprising the display glass, OLED panel, and digitizer.

You will need replacement adhesive to complete this repair.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 1 image

Unplug your phone and power it off before starting.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes.

Be cautious when using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, as excessive heat can damage your phone's display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Step 2 image

Avoid applying excessive force when using the pick — risk of cracking the back cover glass.

  • Attach a suction cup to the phone's center bottom edge or cover cracked display with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Pull the suction cup firmly and steadily to create a gap between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Due to tight tolerances, multiple attempts may be required: reheat with iOpener, separate with suction cup, and repeat if necessary.

  • If struggling to create a gap, apply more heat and try again.
  • Be cautious when using the pick to avoid damage.

Step 3

Do not attempt to cut near the curved edges — risk of cracked glass.

  • Slide a pick back and forth along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing.

Step 4 | Heat the left edge

Step 4 image

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 5 | Separate the left edge adhesive

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup to the back of the phone, near the left edge's center.

  • Pull the suction cup firmly until a gap forms between the back cover and the frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap, ensuring only its tip is under the glass edge.
  • If a gap cannot be created initially, try applying more heat to the edge and attempting again.
  • To aid in loosening the adhesive, apply a few drops of high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol into the seam.

Do not apply excessive force with the pick, as this may crack the back cover glass.

Step 6

Step 6 image

Lift the back cover slowly to avoid damage.

  • Use opening picks to slice any remaining adhesive.
  • Remove the back cover completely.

Power on your phone and test all functions before sealing it up, but be sure to power down completely before continuing.

Remove any loose adhesive chunks with a pair of tweezers or your fingers. If necessary, apply heat to aid separation.

  • If using custom-cut adhesives, consult the separate guide for instructions.
  • If using double-sided tape, refer to the provided guide for specific reassembly procedures.
