This repair requires advanced technical knowledge and specialized tools. Proceed with caution and ensure you have a suitable work environment.
Insert a SIM card eject tool, battery release pin, or a straightened paperclip into the top hole on the SIM tray.
Remove the SIM card tray.
A damaged or missing rubber gasket around the SIM tray can expose your phone's internal components to water and dust damage.
Unplug your phone from power source and turn off the device.
Excessive heat can damage the display and internal battery, so exercise caution when using a heat source.
Apply a suction cup to the phone's back, near the center of the bottom edge.
Pull on the suction cup with steady force to create a gap between the back cover and frame.
Due to tight tolerances, you may need multiple attempts of reheating with the iOpener and reapplying the suction cup before succeeding.
If trouble persists, apply more heat and try again. Excessive force with the pick risks cracking the back cover glass.
Avoid cutting adhesive near the phone's curved edges, as this can crack the glass.
Apply a iOpener preheated to optimal temperature to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Apply a suction cup to the left edge of the phone, as close to center as possible.
Tight tolerances may require multiple attempts to create a gap, which can be facilitated by applying heat and/or isopropyl alcohol (over 90% concentration).
Apply gentle pressure by tilting the pick downwards.
Slide a pick along the left edge of the phone to separate the back cover's adhesive.
Be cautious when sliding across the ridge in the volume and power button frame, as the glass cutout may crack more easily.
Leave the pick under the left edge of the glass near the top left corner to prevent re-adhesion.
Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
Be careful not to overheat the phone — the display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.
Tilt the opening pick downwards to ensure proper insertion under the back cover.
Insert a pick along the right edge of the phone to loosen the back cover's adhesive.
Apply a iOpener with heat to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Be gentle when handling the curved glass near the corners of the back cover as it is prone to cracking.
If the pick becomes stuck, stop and reapply heat before resuming.
Remove the back cover by carefully lifting it and using opening picks to separate any remaining adhesive.
Power on your phone and test all functions before reassembling; ensure you power down completely before continuing.
For custom-cut adhesives, refer to the specific guide for reapplication instructions.
When using double-sided tape, consult the separate guide for proper application procedures.
Remove the Motherboard Bracket screws using a Phillips #00 Screwdriver.
Use tweezers to carefully lift and unclip the motherboard bracket from the midframe.
Do not remove the bracket completely yet — it is still attached to the wireless charging coil.
Locate and gently peel away the wireless charging coil.
During reassembly, refasten motherboard bracket screws first to align the wireless charging coil, then firmly press down on it to secure in place.
Be cautious when disconnecting connectors as nearby surface-mounted components may shift.
Remove the loudspeaker and lower midframe with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Insert the point of a spudger or tweezers into the notch in the top left corner of the midframe and pry up.
Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the main and auxiliary flex cables from the daughterboard near the bottom of the device.
To re-attach press connectors, carefully align and press down on one side until it clicks into place, then repeat on the other side. Do not press down on the middle — risk of pin bend damage.
Disconnect the main and auxiliary flex cables from the motherboard using a spudger.
Peel up the main flex cable and carefully lift it out.
Next, carefully pull out the auxiliary flex cable.
Use a spudger to gently pry up the main display flex cable from the motherboard.
Peel up the display flex cable gently, bending it away from the motherboard and battery.
Remove the four 4mm-long screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Use a spudger to pry the upper midframe from its clips.
Disconnect the side button flex cable from the motherboard.
Disconnect the front facing camera flex cable from the motherboard by prying it loose.
Disconnect the front-facing sensor array cable from the motherboard.
Be careful not to damage the cable or connector.
Insert the flat end of a spudger into the bottom left corner of the motherboard assembly. Pry up gently to release.
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the ultrawide camera connector from the motherboard.
Use a spudger to gently pry up and release the telephoto and wide-angle camera connector from its socket on the motherboard.
