Removing the motherboard is optional but recommended for easier access.
Insert a SIM card eject tool, bit, or a straightened paperclip into the hole on the SIM tray.
Replace the SIM tray immediately if the rubber gasket is damaged or missing.
Remove the SIM card tray.
Unplug your phone and power it off.
Apply suction cup near center of bottom edge to avoid damage.
Tight tolerances may require multiple attempts with iOpener and suction cup.
Insert opening pick into gap created by suction cup.
Never attempt to cut the adhesive near the corners, as it may crack the glass panel.
Apply heat to the left edge of the iOpener target area for 2 minutes using a heated iOpener.
Apply a suction cup to the phone's back, as close to the left edge as possible.
This may require multiple attempts due to tight tolerances. If struggling, apply more heat or try adding a few drops of high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol into the seam.
Avoid excessive force with the pick, as it may crack the back cover glass.
Insert the pick further into the gap between the glass and the back cover.
Tilt the pick downward to avoid applying pressure on any internal components.
Continue until the adhesive is fully separated, allowing you to remove the back cover.
Slide a pick along the left edge of the phone, separating the back cover's adhesive.
Be cautious when crossing the ridge above the volume and power buttons: cracking the glass is possible due to its cutout.
Leave your pick under the top left corner of the glass after removal, preventing re-adhesion.
Avoid overheating the device — display and internal battery may be damaged.
Slide a pick along the right edge of the phone to separate the adhesive.
Keep the pick under the glass near the top to prevent resealing.
Heat an iOpener and apply it to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
The curved glass near the corners of the back cover is prone to cracking.
Reapply heat if the process becomes difficult.
Slowly lift the back cover, using opening picks to carefully slice any remaining adhesive.
Power on your phone and test all functions before sealing it up, then power down completely.
Remove the motherboard bracket using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Use a pair of tweezers to gently pull up and unclip the motherboard bracket from the plastic midframe.
Do not completely remove the bracket yet, as it is still attached to the wireless charging coil.
Peel the wireless charging coil away from the device with care.
During reassembly, securely fasten motherboard bracket screws first to align the coil, then press firmly down on the rest of the coil to secure it in place.
Be cautious of dislodging nearby components when removing connectors.
Remove the five 4 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Locate the notch at the top left corner of the midframe.
Use a spudger to disconnect the main and auxiliary flex cables from the daughterboard.
If re-attaching press connectors, align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks into place, then repeat on the other. Never press down on the middle.
Use a spudger to gently pry up and disconnect the main and auxiliary flex cables from the motherboard.
Remove the main flex cable by gently peeling it away from its connectors.
Avoid pulling on the cable itself to prevent damage to the connector pins.
Next, carefully lift out the auxiliary flex cable.
Use a spudger to pry up the main display flex cable from the motherboard.
Peel up the display flex cable gently and bend it out of the way.
Remove the four 4 mm-long upper midframe screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Insert the point of a spudger into the notch on the right side of the upper midframe.
Be careful not to damage the surrounding components during this process.
Disconnect the front facing camera flex cable by prying it away from the motherboard.
Bend the front-facing sensor array cable away from the motherboard.
Remove the two screws holding the motherboard and camera assembly in place.
Insert the flat end of a spudger into the bottom left corner of the motherboard assembly.
Insert one end of a pair of tweezers into the notch at the bottom right corner of the earpiece speaker.
If needed, apply a few drops of high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol to help soften the adhesive.
Pry up with care to release the adhesive and remove the earpiece speaker. You can reuse the original speaker adhesive if available. Otherwise, use a pre-cut adhesive sheet as replacement.
