Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus Screen Replacement

Replacing the screen assembly poses a significant risk of damaging the fragile display panel.

  • Ensure you have the correct screen assembly and replacement adhesive before starting.
  • Some replacement screens come pre-installed in a new frame; be prepared to transplant internal components and install a new battery if necessary.

When reusing the original screen assembly, apply plenty of heat and exercise extreme care during the prying stage to avoid damage.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 1 image

Unplug your phone from power and turn it off.

When using heat to loosen adhesive, avoid overheating the display and internal battery.

  • Apply heat to the bottom edge of the back cover with an iOpener for two minutes.
  • A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate can also be used; however, exercise caution when using these tools.

Step 2 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup to the phone's back near its center, bottom edge.

  • If your display is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Alternatively, use strong tape or superglue the suction cup to the broken glass as a last resort.

Pull on the suction cup firmly but steadily to create a gap between the back cover and frame.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap once created.
  • Reheat with the iOpener, reapply suction, and retry if needed due to tight tolerances.

Avoid excessive force when using the pick, as it may crack the back cover glass.

Apply more heat and try again if creating a gap proves difficult.

Step 3

Step 3 image

Do not cut the adhesive near the curved edges — risk of cracked glass.

  • Slide a pick back and forth along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in the seam to prevent resealing.

Step 4 | Heat the left edge

Step 4 image

Apply iOpener to the left edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.

Step 5 | Separate the left edge adhesive

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup to the left edge of the phone's back, centered as closely as possible.

  • Pull on the suction cup with strong force to create a gap between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap, aiming for the very tip to be under the glass's edge.

Due to tight tolerances, this may require multiple attempts or extra heat applied to the edge.

  • If needed, apply a few drops of high-concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol into the seam for assistance.

Avoid excessive force with the pick, as this may crack the back cover glass.

Step 6
