Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Wireless Charging Assembly Replacement

The wireless charging assembly consists of the motherboard cover, wireless charging coil, and loudspeaker held together with graphite tape. It should be removed as a single unit.

  • To replace the entire assembly, use this guide.
  • If replacing an individual part, follow the corresponding guide.

A fully charged lithium-ion battery can pose a hazard if damaged.

Let the battery level fall below 25% before proceeding.

  • Power off your device.
  • Disconnect any connected cables.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Do not expose the back cover to extreme heat — risk of warping.

  • Heat an iOpener and apply it to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but be cautious not to apply excessive heat.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup to the center of the back cover's bottom edge, as close to the edge as possible.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • This may require significant force; if having trouble, apply more heat and try again.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the bottom edge and slide it along to cut the adhesive.

  • Leave the opening pick in place at the bottom right corner.
  • This prevents resealing of the adhesive.

Step 5 | Heat the right edge

Step 5 image

Avoid using excessive heat, which may cause warping of the back cover.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but exercise caution and avoid extreme heat.

Power on your device, test all functions, and verify everything is working correctly.

Ensure the device is powered down completely before continuing work.

  • If reinstalling the original back cover:
    • Peel off old adhesive using tweezers or fingers.
    • Use highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) and a microfiber cloth to remove remaining adhesive residue.
    • Apply new custom-cut adhesive according to the provided guide.
  • If installing a new back cover:
  • Remove liners from the new back cover.
  • Press firmly around the perimeter to secure the back cover to the frame.
