Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Wide-Angle Camera Replacement

Before performing this repair, confirm that the issue lies with the wide-angle camera and not the rear lens cover, as a faulty lens cover requires a separate guide for replacement.

  • The camera may need to be replaced if it doesn't focus, won't take pictures, or captures low-quality images.
  • Replacement back cover adhesive will be required for reassembly.

Step 1 | Before you begin

Let the battery drain to 25% or less before proceeding, as a fully charged lithium-ion battery may pose safety risks.

  • Power off the device.
  • Unplug any connected cables.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Be cautious when applying heat to prevent warping the back cover.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer-but maintain a moderate temperature to avoid damage.

Apply suction cup to center of back cover's bottom edge.

Insert the opening pick into the bottom edge of the device.

Be careful not to apply too much pressure, which can damage the screen.

Slowly slide the opening pick along the bottom edge to cut through the adhesive securing the back cover.

  • Leave the opening pick inserted in the bottom right corner of the device.
  • This will prevent the adhesive from resealing and making removal more difficult.

Step 5 | Heat the right edge

Step 5 image

Use caution when applying heat, as extreme temperatures may cause damage.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer on low heat setting with care.

Step 6 | Slice the right adhesive

  • Slide it upwards along the right edge, carefully slicing through the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick inserted in the top right corner.

Step 7 | Heat the top edge

Step 7 image

Be cautious when using heat, as it may warp the back cover.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but maintain control over temperature to avoid warping the back cover.

Step 8 | Slice the top adhesive

Insert an opening pick at the top right corner and slide it along the top edge to separate the adhesive.

  • Continue sliding the pick around the top edge until the adhesive is fully sliced.
  • Leave the pick inserted in the top left corner.

Step 9 | Heat the left edge

Power on your device and test all functions during reassembly to ensure everything works as expected.

Power down completely before continuing work.

  • If reinstalling old back cover, use tweezers or fingers to remove old adhesive from frame.
  • Use highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) and microfiber cloth to remove remaining adhesive residue.
  • Apply new custom-cut adhesive as described in this guide.

For new back cover, peel off liners and press firmly around perimeter to secure to frame.
