Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Rear Camera Lens Cover Replacement

Verify that a cracked rear camera lens cover is causing poor photo quality by checking the cameras individually.

  • Ensure you have the correct replacement adhesive for both the back cover and camera lens cover.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Apply iOpener or use a hair dryer (be cautious of heat damage) to the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

  • Use an iOpener and apply it to the bottom edge of the back cover.
  • If using a hair dryer, exercise caution as extreme heat can warp the back cover.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup to the center of the back cover's bottom edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • This may require significant force; if necessary, apply more heat and try again.

Insert an opening pick in the created gap.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick along the bottom edge to cut the adhesive securing the back cover.
  • Leave the pick inserted to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 4 | Heat the right edge

Apply a iOpener to the right edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but be cautious not to apply extreme heat, which may warp the back cover.

Step 5 | Slice the right adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner of the device.

  • Slide it along the right edge, carefully slicing through any adhesive.
  • Once completed, leave the opening pick in place at the top right corner.

Step 6 | Heat the top edge

Excessive heat may warp the back cover; use with caution.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but keep extreme heat at bay.

Step 7 | Slice the top adhesive

Slide the opening pick to the top right corner, then along the top edge, to slice the adhesive.

  • Leaving the pick inserted in the top left corner.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Excessive heat can damage or warp the back cover.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the left edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but with caution: avoid extreme heat that may harm the back cover.

Step 9 | Slice the left adhesive

  • Insert the opening pick into the top left corner.
  • Sweep the pick along the entire left edge to remove remaining adhesive.

Step 10 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

  • If the back cover remains stuck to the frame, use an opening pick to gently pry around the perimeter, separating any remaining adhesive.

Step 11 | Reassembly information

Power on your device and test all functions before reassembling.

Make sure to power down completely before continuing work.

  • If reinstalling old back cover: Remove old adhesive with tweezers or fingers, then use isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloth for remaining residue.
  • Follow guide for applying new custom-cut adhesive (for reusing old back cover).

For new back cover: Peel off liners, press firmly around perimeter to secure.

Step 12 | Heat the lens cover

Excessive heat can damage the back cover.

  • Use an iOpener or hair dryer to apply heat to the rear camera lens cover for two minutes.
  • Be cautious not to warp the back cover with extreme heat.

Step 13 | Insert an opening pick

Remove the rear camera lens cover by prying it loose with a spudger.

  • Insert the flat end of a spudger into the top camera cutout from beneath the back cover.
  • Push the lens cover until it starts to detach.
  • Slide an opening pick between the lens cover and back cover.

Step 14 | Slice the adhesive

Slide opening pick under rear camera lens cover, moving it back and forth to cut adhesive.

Step 15 | Remove the lens cover

Remove the rear camera lens cover.

  • Install a new lens cover by peeling off the old adhesive with tweezers; this will leave no residue.
  • Align the lens cover using the camera's cutouts for proper orientation.
  • Remove the plastic liner from the back of the new lens cover.
  • Lay the lens cover in its recess and press down firmly to secure it.
