Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Back Cover Replacement

This repair requires a replacement back cover and back cover adhesive. Follow this guide for installation instructions.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Use heat with caution to avoid warping the back cover.

  • Apply an iOpener or a hair dryer to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes.

Avoid extreme heat when using a hair dryer, as it may warp the back cover.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • This requires significant force; if having trouble, apply more heat and try again.
  • Insert an opening pick in the created gap.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner.

  • Slide it along the bottom edge to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing.

Step 4 | Heat the right edge

Apply a iOpener to the right edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but exercise caution to avoid warping the back cover.

Step 5 | Slice the right adhesive

Insert an opening pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slice the adhesive along the right edge using a gentle prying motion.
  • Leave the pick in place, positioned at the top right corner.

Step 6 | Heat the top edge

Do not apply excessive heat, which may warp the back cover.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer with caution, as extreme heat can damage the back cover.

Step 7 | Slice the top adhesive

  • Slide the opening pick around the top right corner and along the top edge to cut through the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick lodged in the top left corner for further use.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the back cover and heat it for 2 minutes.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, but be cautious not to apply extreme heat that may warp the back cover.

Step 9 | Slice the left adhesive

  • Slide the opening pick around the top left corner.
  • Continue sliding it down the left edge to cut through any remaining adhesive.

Step 10 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

  • If the back cover is still stuck, use an opening pick to carefully pry it loose by sliding the tool around the perimeter.
  • This will help separate any remaining adhesive and allow the back cover to be removed completely.

Step 11 | Reassembly information

Power on your device during reassembly and test all functions before sealing it up.

Make sure to power down completely before continuing work.

  • If reinstalling old back cover, use tweezers or fingers to peel off adhesive from frame.
  • Use highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) and microfiber cloth to remove remaining residue.
  • Follow guide for applying new custom-cut adhesive.

If installing a new back cover:

  • Peel off liners from the new back cover.
  • Press firmly around the perimeter to secure it to the frame.
