Samsung Galaxy S10e Wireless Charging Coil Replacement

Replace the wireless charging coil on a Samsung Galaxy S10e device.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals.

  • Have replacement adhesive ready before proceeding, or avoid liquid exposure if reassembling without replacement.
  • Turn off the phone completely.

Heat the back of the phone along the right edge with an iOpener for 2 minutes.

  • You may need to reheat and reapply several times to achieve the desired temperature.
  • Follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat, as this can damage the OLED display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Prepare to slice the adhesive

Identify the locations to cut the adhesive: compare the first image showing the inside after removal with the outside view highlighting the areas where you will be cutting.

  • The adhesive is thinnest on the right side, below the Bixby button.
  • Mark the highlighted areas for cutting, taking note of their positions on the phone's exterior.

Step 3 | Secure a suction cup

Apply a suction cup near the Bixby button, where the adhesive is thinnest.

The curved glass edge may not hold the seal; avoid placing the suction cup directly on this area.

  • If the back cover is cracked, use strong tape to lift it with the suction cup, or apply superglue to secure the suction cup in place.
  • Allow the superglue to cure before proceeding.

Step 4 | Create an opening gap

Avoid using excessive force or metal tools, as they can cause the rear glass to shatter.

  • Prop up the phone's heated edge on a 0.5-inch (13 mm) thick surface for easier access with the opening tool.
  • Lift the right edge of the back cover with your suction cup, creating a small gap between the cover and frame.

Significant force may be required; if needed, reheat the adhesive and retry until successful.

  • Press the edge of an opening tool into the created gap, taking care to minimize rear glass breakage.

Insert an opening pick near the top right corner of the phone.

  • Slide it around the corner and across the top edge of the phone.
  • For the glued area at the top, insert the pick farther into the phone to separate it effectively.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from re-adhering.

Step 9

Insert an opening pick near a bottom corner.

Careful prying is required to avoid damage.

  • Use an opening pick to carefully pry up the back cover.
  • If resistance is encountered, stop and use an opening pick to cut any remaining adhesive.
  • Remove the back cover.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Ensure your phone is powered on before reassembling.

  • Test the repair to verify functionality.

The back cover may not be waterproof after this procedure.

  • If reinstalling adhesive, remove any large chunks of leftover adhesive that may interfere with proper seating.
  • Secure the back cover in place by heating it and applying gentle pressure.

Step 15 | Remove the midframe

Step 15 image

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all eight 3.9 mm Phillips screws holding the upper midframe in place.

Step 16

Remove the midframe by lifting it at the plastic section.

  • To reinstall: Insert the top edge of the assembly into the phone's frame.
  • Gently press down on the rest of the assembly to snap it into place.

Step 19 | Loosen the wireless charging coil

High concentration isopropyl alcohol may damage certain components — use with caution.

  • Use an opening tool to gently pry up the wireless charging coil's contact pad.
  • If stuck, apply high concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol to loosen the adhesion.
