Samsung Galaxy S10e Screen Replacement

This repair is destructive and irreparably damages the screen panel, making it impossible to reuse.

  • Remove the back cover of your Samsung Galaxy S10e.
  • Disconnect the screen from the motherboard.
  • The process removes the top glass and display panel separately, but they cannot be reused.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Opening your phone compromises its waterproof seals — ensure replacement adhesive is ready.

  • Power off your phone completely before starting this repair.
  • Apply an iOpener to the right edge of the back for approximately two minutes, or until the adhesive softens.

Reheat as needed and follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating the phone.

  • Alternative heat sources include a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate; however, be cautious not to overheat the phone, which may damage the OLED display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Prepare to slice the adhesive

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 2

Locate and highlight the adhesive to be cut on the outside of the phone as shown in previous image.

  • Slice through the highlighted areas using a suitable tool.
  • The thinnest adhesive is located on the right side, below the Bixby button.

Step 3 | Secure a suction cup

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 2

Position a suction cup near the Bixby button on the thinnest adhesive section.

Avoid placing it directly on the curved glass edge — poor seal may result.

  • If the back cover is cracked, use strong tape to aid removal or apply superglue and wait for cure time before lifting.

Step 4 | Create an opening gap

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Position the phone at a 0.5 inch (13 mm) angle using a prop.

  • Lift the right edge of the back cover with your suction cup, creating a slight gap between the cover and frame.
  • Be prepared to apply significant force; if needed, reheat and retry.
  • Avoid overheating the iOpener or gel pack during use.

Use an opening tool's edge to pry into the gap.

Never use metal tools or excessive force on the rear glass, as it may shatter.

Step 5

Use an opening tool to carefully slice along the right edge of the phone and separate the adhesive holding the back cover in place.

Step 6

Step 6 image

Insert an opening pick into the edge adjacent to the opening tool.

Leave the pick in place to prevent re-adhesion of the separated glue.

Step 7

Step 7 image

Apply a iOpener to the top edge of the phone and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 8

Step 8 image

Insert an opening pick near the top right corner of the phone.

  • Slide the pick around the corner and across the top edge.
  • The glued area is larger here, so insert the pick farther into the phone to prevent damage.

  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent adhesive re-adhesion.

  • Use opening picks to gently pry up the back cover.
  • If encountering resistance, stop prying and carefully remove excess adhesive with an opening pick.
  • Remove the back cover.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Reinstall the back cover by applying gentle pressure after heating.

  • Turn on your phone and test the repair before proceeding.
  • If desired, reinstall only the back cover without replacing adhesive.
  • Remove any large chunks of leftover adhesive that may obstruct proper seating.
  • The phone won't be fully waterproof with this method.

  • Apply even pressure to secure the back cover.

Step 15 | Remove the midframe

Step 15 image

Remove all eight 3.9 mm Phillips screws.

Step 16

Step 16 image

Insert an opening pick into the gap between the upper and lower midframes at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick towards the right, applying gentle pressure until the adhesive is separated.
  • Continue to work along the edge of the midframes as needed.

Step 17

Step 17 image

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry the battery connector straight out of its socket.

Step 20 | Remove the loudspeaker

Step 20 image

Remove the screws using a Phillips driver.

  • There are 7 screws in total, with each screw having a length of 3.9mm.

Flip the phone over with the display facing up.

Be cautious when using heat, as overheating can damage the internal battery.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the screen for two minutes or use an alternative heat source like a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.
  • Note the following seams:
    • The display seam is above the thin plastic bezel; you'll pry along this seam to separate the display.
    • The frame seam is below the thin plastic bezel - do not pry here, as it can damage the bezel.

Be cautious when using suction cups — risk of screen damage.

  • Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the display.
  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap.
  • If needed, reapply heat and try again due to possible device age-related difficulty.
  • Insert an opening pick into the display seam above the plastic bezel.
