Samsung Galaxy S10e Headphone Jack Replacement

Try cleaning the headphone jack first if experiencing intermittent connections with wired headphones.

  • Follow these steps to remove and replace the headphone jack for the Samsung Galaxy S10e.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals — have replacement adhesive ready before proceeding or take care to avoid liquid exposure if reassembling without replacement.

  • Turn off your phone completely before starting this repair.
  • Prepare an iOpener and heat the back of the phone along the right edge for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Multiple reheats may be necessary; follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

If using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, exercise caution to prevent overheating and damage to the OLED display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Prepare to slice the adhesive

Be cautious when cutting adhesive — risk of injury from sharp edges.

  • Identify the adhesive layout as seen in the first image, noting the areas to be sliced through.
  • Slice through the highlighted adhesive sections on the outside of the phone, beginning with the thinnest area: just below the Bixby button on the right side.

Step 3 | Secure a suction cup

The suction cup may not make a good seal on curved portions of glass.

  • Position the suction cup near the heated edge, just under the Bixby button where the adhesive is thinnest.
  • Avoid placing it directly on the very edge for best results.
  • If the back cover is cracked, use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction cup and allow it to cure before lifting.

Step 4 | Create an opening gap

Step 4 image

Risk of shattering if improper prying methods are used.

  • Support the heated phone on a flat surface, about 0.5 inches (13 mm) thick, for proper angle.
  • Lift the back cover's right edge with your suction cup to create a slight gap between cover and frame.

Significant force may be required; reheat as necessary if adhesive does not yield.

  • Press an opening tool into the gap, avoiding metal tools that can cause rear glass breakage.

Step 5

Use the opening tool to cut along the right edge of the phone.

  • Slide the tool along the edge to break the adhesive bond with the back cover.

Insert a pick into the edge near the opening tool. Leave it in place to keep the glue separated.

  • The pick should be left at this location throughout the repair process.

Insert a pick near the top right corner of the phone and slide it around the corner and across the top edge.

The glued area is larger here; insert your pick farther into the phone to avoid re-adhesion.

Leave the pick in place to prevent adhesive from re-bonding.

Step 9

Apply heat to the left edge of the phone with a iOpener for 2 minutes.

Use a opening pick to carefully pry up the back cover.

  • If resistance is encountered, stop prying and use the opening pick to remove remaining adhesive.
  • Continue until the back cover can be removed.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Turn on your phone and test its functionality before proceeding.

  • Remove any large chunks of leftover adhesive that may interfere with the back cover's fit.
  • Reinstall the back cover and apply heat to ensure proper sealing, then secure it with pressure.
  • Note that this method will not restore full water resistance.

Step 15 | Remove the midframe

Step 15 image

Remove the eight 3.9 mm Phillips screws that secure the upper midframe to the phone.
