Samsung Galaxy S10e Front Camera Replacement

This repair guide explains how to disassemble the Samsung Galaxy S10e's housing to access the front-facing camera module for replacement.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Opening your phone will breach its waterproof seals.

  • Ensure a replacement adhesive is prepared before proceeding or take caution against liquid exposure upon reassembly.
  • Switch off the phone completely prior to commencing this repair.
  • Prepare an iOpener and heat the back of the phone along the right edge for approximately two minutes to soften the adhesive securing the back cover.
  • You may need to reapply the iOpener multiple times to achieve sufficient warmth; follow instructions carefully to avoid overheating.
  • Alternatively, a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate can be used, but exercise care to prevent overheat damage to the OLED display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Prepare to slice the adhesive

Identify the highlighted areas on the back of the phone where the adhesive needs to be cut.

  • The adhesive is thickest at the top and bottom edges of the phone.
  • The adhesive is thinnest on the right side, just below the Bixby button.

Step 3 | Secure a suction cup

The suction cup may not make a good seal on the curved portion of the glass.

  • Suction cup placement: secure to back cover near heated edge, under Bixby button, where adhesive is thinnest.
  • Do not place suction cup directly on very edge or it will not seal properly.
  • If phone's back cover is cracked, consider using strong tape or applying superglue to secure suction cup in place before proceeding.

Step 4 | Create an opening gap

Prop up the heated phone on a 0.5 inch (13 mm) thick surface for easier access.

  • Lift the back cover's right edge with your suction cup, creating a small gap between it and the frame.
  • You may need significant force; apply more heat if necessary and try again, as the adhesive cools quickly.

  • When using an iOpener, follow heating instructions to avoid overheating and bursting the gel pack.

  • Press an opening tool into the gap, taking care not to apply too much force or use metal tools.

Step 5

Insert an opening pick near the top right corner of the phone.

  • Slide the pick around the corner and across the top edge of the phone.
  • For this area, insert the pick farther into the phone due to a larger glued section.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-adhesion of the adhesive.

  • Remove the back cover once free.

Step 14

Turn on your phone and test the repair before installing new adhesive.

  • Remove large chunks of old adhesive that may interfere with proper installation.
  • Reinstall back cover and apply heat to secure it in place with pressure.

Note: Phone will not be waterproof after this process.
