This repair involves removing and replacing the fingerprint sensor on your Samsung Galaxy S10e, which requires complete disassembly of the phone, including removal of the screen that will be destroyed in the process.
Opening your phone will breach its waterproof seals; have replacement adhesive prepared for reassembly.
Ensure the phone is completely powered off before starting this repair.
Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate but exercise caution: excessive heat can damage the OLED display or internal battery.
Locate the adhesive layout as shown in the first image, where the back cover's inside has been exposed.
Apply a suction cup to the back cover, just below the Bixby button where the adhesive is thinnest.
Excessive force or improper tools may damage the phone's rear glass.
Insert a opening pick next to the opening tool, leaving it in place to prevent re-adhesion of the separated glue.
Apply a iOpener to the top edge of the phone and heat for 2 minutes.
Insert an opening pick near the top right corner of the phone and slide it around the corner and across the top edge.
Be cautious as the glued area is larger here, requiring a deeper insertion to separate it effectively.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-adhesion of the adhesive.
Apply iOpener to left edge for 2 minutes.
Apply a iOpener preheated according to manufacturer's instructions to the bottom edge of the device for 2 minutes.
Insert opening pick at a bottom corner of the phone.
Use a opening pick to carefully pry up the back cover.
Stop prying if you encounter resistance; use the opening pick to cut any remaining adhesive instead.
Turn on your phone and test the repair before applying new adhesive.
Remove the 8 x 3.9 mm Phillips screws that secure the upper midframe.
Insert an opening pick at the bottom right corner of the upper midframe.
Insert the spudger into the small cutout near the Bixby button, right edge of the upper midframe.
Locate the plastic midframe section and lift the midframe out of the phone.
Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully lift the battery connector straight out of its socket.
Remove the loudspeaker screws with a Phillips driver.
Insert the point of a spudger into the notch on the right edge of the loudspeaker.
To reassemble:
Never press down in the middle of the connector — risk of pin bending and permanent damage.
Insert the spudger's point under the fingerprint sensor connector and gently pry it loose, then lift it away from the motherboard socket.
Remove the fingerprint sensor bracket's 2 x 4 mm Phillips screws using a Phillips driver.
Use caution when applying heat to avoid damage.
Strong adhesive holds the fingerprint sensor bracket in place.
Loosen the fingerprint sensor cable from the adhesive gasket using a pair of tweezers.
Flip the phone over and position the display for access.
Be cautious not to overheat, as internal damage can occur.
Note the following seams:
Be cautious not to scratch the display.
If device is old or stubborn, reapply heat and try again.
Insert an opening pick into the right edge and gently slide it along to cut through the adhesive.
Do not remove the opening pick yet, as this can cause the adhesive to reseal.
Place a heated iOpener on the bottom edge of the display and let it stay for 60 seconds.
Insert an opening pick under the device and slide it along the bottom edge to cut the adhesive.
Make sure the pick remains in one corner to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.
Repeat the heat treatment and slicing process for all unprocessed display sides.
Exposure to air will damage the OLED panel.
Use a iOpener to heat the OLED panel for 1 minute.
Lift the display panel from the right edge.
Insert the display panel connector into the frame.
Remove the display panel.
Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up the fingerprint cable cover from the frame.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully pry out the fingerprint sensor cable from its frame cutout.
Remove the power button support bracket using a pair of tweezers.
Remove the fingerprint sensor from its recess.
