Samsung Galaxy S10e Back Cover Replacement

Ensure you have the correct replacement glass back cover for your specific Samsung Galaxy S10e model.

  • Follow all necessary precautions when handling fragile glass components.
  • Glass Breakage Removal Tool may be required for a smooth removal process.
  • Use a suction cup and gentle prying motion to carefully separate the glass back cover from the device.
  • Take note of any adhesive strips or clips securing the glass in place, as these will need to be removed before replacement.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals — ensure replacement adhesive is ready or avoid liquid exposure.

Turn off your phone completely before starting this repair.

  • Prepare an iOpener and heat the back of the phone along the right edge for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • You may need to reheat and reapply the iOpener several times; follow the instructions to avoid overheating.
  • A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate can also be used, but be careful not to overheat: the OLED display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Step 2 | Prepare to slice the adhesive

Cut carefully to avoid damaging surrounding components.

  • Identify the adhesive layout as shown in the first image.
  • Slice through the highlighted areas on the outside of the phone.
  • The thinnest adhesive is located just below the Bixby button on the right side.

Step 3 | Secure a suction cup

A damaged back cover may prevent the suction cup from adhering.

  • Apply a suction cup as close as possible to the heated edge under the Bixby button where adhesive is thinnest.
  • Avoid placing the suction cup on the curved glass portion or very edge, as it won't create a good seal.
  • If back cover is cracked, use strong tape for temporary lift or superglue the suction cup in place and allow to cure before proceeding.

Step 4 | Create an opening gap

Use excessive caution when prying open the phone, as the rear glass can break easily.

  • Prop up the phone on a support approximately 0.5 inches (13 mm) thick to create an angle for easier tool insertion.
  • Lift the back cover's right edge with your suction cup, creating a slight gap between the cover and frame. Be prepared to apply significant force.

Be cautious not to overheat any heating tools, such as an iOpener, to prevent bursting or damage.

  • Press the edge of an opening tool into the gap you've created, taking care not to use too much force that could cause the rear glass to break.

Step 5

Insert an opening pick near the top right corner of the phone.

  • Slide it around the corner and across the top edge of the phone.
  • In this area, apply more force by inserting the pick deeper into the phone to break the adhesive seal.

Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-adhesion of the adhesive.

  • Remove the back cover.

Step 14

Ensure your phone is operational before reassembling by testing it after repair.

  • Remove any excess adhesive that may hinder proper fitment of the back cover.
  • Apply heat and pressure to secure the back cover in place.

Note that this will not restore waterproofing, as the original adhesive is compromised.
