This repair involves replacing the rear-facing camera module for the Galaxy S10.
This procedure requires motherboard removal and is particularly challenging due to the need to remove the back cover.
Insert a SIM eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paperclip into the correct hole on the SIM tray.
Ensure the SIM card is properly oriented relative to the tray when reinserting it to avoid damage or malfunction.
Power off your phone and unplug it before starting.
Place the phone at a 13 mm angle on a stable surface.
Apply iOpener to phone edge for 2 minutes.
Multiple attempts may be necessary due to tight tolerances and strong adhesive.
Avoid excessive force with opening pick or risk cracking back cover glass.
Do not slice the corner adhesives without heat — risk of cracking the back cover.
Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes.
Leave an opening pick in the seam to prevent adhesive re-sealing.
Continue to heat and slice around the remaining phone edges.
Twist an opening pick into one edge of the phone to separate the back cover from the frame.
Power off your phone before continuing, as some functions may not work properly during reassembly.
Reassemble in stages: test your phone's functionality and power it down before sealing the back cover.
If reusing the existing adhesive, remove large chunks that may prevent a flush fit. Secure the back cover by heating it and applying pressure.
Remove the 8 x 4 mm Phillips screws from the top midframe.
Locate the plastic clips holding the midframe in place.
Lift the midframe from the top corners.
If stuck, slowly peel the top midframe off carefully.
The edges should sit flush against the phone edge.
Insert the flat end of a spudger underneath the battery connector, which is attached to the motherboard below the rear-facing camera.
Be careful not to dislodge surrounding small surface-mounted components when disconnecting connectors like these.
Remove seven 4 mm Phillips screws securing the lower midframe.
Locate the plastic clips holding the midframe in place.
Grasp the loosened midframe end with your fingers and lift it up slowly.
Locate the display connector at the bottom right corner of the phone's motherboard.
Use a flat-ended spudger to carefully pry up and release the display connector.
Insert the point of a spudger into the gap between the headphone jack and its socket.
Remove the three 3.7 mm Phillips screws that secure the motherboard to the phone.
Insert point of spudger under right edge of motherboard near volume down button.
Grasp the motherboard by the top corners with your fingers.
Trap cables under the board to avoid damage.
Flip the motherboard over.
Lay a heated iOpener over the rear-facing camera module for exactly one minute.
Insert the spudger into the small notch at the top-left corner of the camera module.
Insert the edge of an opening tool under the loosened corner of the camera module.
Remove the rear-facing camera module.
