Step 1 | Remove SIM Tray

Disconnect power to the device.

  • Remove the SIM card tray.

CAUTION: Back cover is made of glass and may break easily.

  • Heat the battery cover with a heat gun.
  • Insert a picks between back cover and frame using a scution cup.
  • Leave picks at certain points to prevent re-adhesion as you loosen the back cover.

Step 3 | Removing the back cover screws

Remove screws securing Antenne Panel cover and NFC Wireless Charging on the upper half.

  • Next, remove screws from loudspeaker cover on the bottom half.

Careful not to puncture the mainboard when prying the upper cover.

  • Use a thin metal spudger to pry between the cover and frame.
  • Pry lightly to release the upper portion of the plastic cover.

Use a thin metal spudger to gently pry at the bottom half of the cover.

Once loose, remove the entire cover in one piece.

Step 6 | NOTE: For testing after replacement of screen

Reattach antenna and loudspeaker cover for initial testing.

  • Test display before reassembling phone.
  • Error may occur if antenna & loudspeaker are not remounted during testing, causing issue with charging cable attachment.

Step 7 | Removing the battery

Do not pry too hard or use any sharp tools — risk of damage.

  • Disconnect the battery from the mainboard using a plastic tool.
  • Use a heat gun to warm up the front of the display in the area of the battery.
  • Pry the battery loose with a thin, preferably plastic, spudger, attempting to lift it from the frame side.

Release the display cable using a plastic spudger.

  • Release the camera using a plastic spudger.
  • Remove and lay aside the camera.

  • Remove the retaining screw on the upper half of the mainboard.
  • Remove the two screws on the lower half of the mainboard, located either side of the charger port.
  • Disconnect the headphone jack connector from the mainboard.
  • The headphone jack can be removed before or after the mainboard for convenience.

Step 10 | Removing the mainboard

Careful: metal connectors are fragile and prone to damage.

  • Use a pick or thin plastic spudger to release the mainboard from the top of the frame.
  • Pry the right side of the mainboard up with a spudger.
  • Be cautious when handling: a small metal connector on the bottom can break easily (refer to highlighted red box).

Once released, gently slide the mainboard up to remove the charger port from the frame.

Step 11 | Removing the vibration motor

Check if the new display has the vibration motor and speaker already installed, as they may need to be transferred.

  • Use a heat gun to heat up the bottom of the vibration motor from the screen side.

  • Insert a thin, flat edged tool to pry the vibration motor free.

When reassembling, complete these steps in reverse order.

For proper testing, attach the antenna/loudspeaker cover before powering on the device, as an error symbol may appear otherwise.
