Samsung Galaxy S10+ Screen Replacement

This guide is for replacing a broken screen on your Samsung Galaxy S10+. To do this, you'll need to remove the back cover and disconnect the screen from the motherboard.

  • The original frame will be retained during removal.

Note that photos used in this guide are from the Galaxy S10; minor visual differences may occur, but they won't affect the overall procedure.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Unplug your phone and power it off before starting.

  • Apply an iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate. However, be cautious not to overheat your phone, as the display and internal battery can be damaged by excessive heat.
  • While waiting, study the image of the removed back cover to identify adhesive locations.

Step 2 | Create an opening gap

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup near the center of the right edge, where the adhesive is narrowest.

  • Pull the suction cup firmly to create a gap between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap, working carefully due to tight tolerances.

Multiple attempts may be necessary. If struggling, reapply heat or try applying isopropyl alcohol into the seam.

Avoid excessive force with the pick, as this can crack the back cover glass.

Step 3

Position the phone at an angle by resting the heated right edge on a surface about 0.5 inches (13 mm) thick.

  • Stabilize the left edge of the phone with your fingers to prevent it from sliding.
  • Pull the suction cup with firm pressure toward the phone.
  • Insert an opening tool into the seam between the back cover and the frame, then slide it back and forth a few times.

Step 4 | Slice through the adhesive

Step 4 image

Never apply excessive pressure or slice adhesive prematurely, risking damage to the phone's casing.

  • Slide an opening pick along the edge of the phone, carefully slicing through the adhesive.
  • Apply heat before attempting to separate the corner adhesive to prevent damage to the back cover.
  • Leave a pick in place at the seam to maintain separation and prevent re-adhesion.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Apply a iOpener to the bottom edge of the phone and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 6

Insert a pick into the right edge near the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick around the corner, then continue cutting along the bottom edge and around the bottom left corner.
  • If cutting feels difficult, re-apply heat to the edge before continuing.

Leave an opening pick in the seam to prevent adhesive from re-sealing.

Twist an opening pick into one edge of the phone to separate the back cover from the frame.

  • Lift the back cover slowly using opening picks to slice any remaining adhesive.
  • Remove the back cover completely.

Power on your phone and test all functions before resealing the back cover. Power down your phone completely before continuing.

  • Reinstall the back cover following this guide.
  • Transfer and install the camera bezel according to the guide.
  • Replace the adhesive as described in the guide.

Step 18 | Slice through the screen adhesive

Step 18 image

Do not apply excessive heat to the phone's internal battery.

  • Flip the phone over so the display faces up.
  • Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the screen for two minutes.

A heat gun, hair dryer, or hot plate may also be used. Ensure not to overheat the phone.
