Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant Camera Lens Replacement

  • Possible damage to the camera's internal mechanisms if you attempt to clean a damaged lens — risk of further injury.

  • Turn off and unplug your camera from any power source.

Inspect the lens for visible cracks or debris. If damaged, proceed with replacement.

  • Locate the lens mounting ring at the base of the lens barrel.
  • Gently twist and pull the lens mounting ring counterclockwise to remove it.
  • Remove the damaged lens from its mount.

Locate the small slit on the bottom edge of the device between the back and front cases.

  • Pop the back case off by inserting your finger and pulling it away from the phone.
  • If needed, use the Plastic Opening Tools to pry the back case off.

Push the battery's bottom edge up and away from the phone.

  • You can use a plastic spudger or a Plastic Opening Tool for this step.

Step 3 | Midframe

Press the SIM card down and slide it away from the slot.

Continue to push until the card is partially ejected, then pull it straight out towards the bottom edge of the device.

Remove seven 4.5 mm Phillips #00 screws from the perimeter of the phone.

Locate the midframe near the power button.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to disengage the plastic clips.
  • Work carefully and release all clips before removing the midframe.
  • The power button and volume control button may fall out when the midframe is removed.

Remove the SD card from its slot.

Step 7 | Camera Lens

Disengage the ribbon cable from its connector.

  • For a functional camera, use tweezers to grasp the ribbon cable at its base.
  • If the camera lens is broken, gently pinch the ribbon cable with your fingers to avoid further damage.
