Samsung Galaxy S III SIM Card Replacement

Replacing the SIM card requires reference to this guide.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Use a plastic opening tool or your fingernail to insert into the notch between the rear case and the rest of the phone.

  • Gently twist the tool to release the clips securing the rear case.

Avoid breaking any clips along the perimeter using a tool for best results.

Use a plastic opening tool to widen the gap by sliding it left along the top edge of the phone and repeating the twisting motion.

  • Slide the tool along the top edge.
  • Twist the tool while holding its position.

Step 3

Move the plastic opening tool around the top left corner, gently prying up the rear case.

Use a pry tool to pry along the top right side of the device.

  • Continue prying downwards along the right side of the rear case.

Step 5

Lift up the rear case and remove it from the phone.

Be prepared to carefully peel the case away from any remaining clips at the bottom of the phone, if necessary.

Step 6 | Battery

Insert a finger or plastic opening tool into the notch above the battery.

  • Pry the battery upward from its recess.

Step 7

Disconnect and remove the battery.

Step 8 | SIM Card

Use your fingernail to gently press the SIM card further into the slot.

  • You should hear a distinct click.
  • Release the card and it will eject from its slot.

When reinstalling, ensure the SIM card clicks firmly in place to avoid damage.

  • Pull the SIM card into the slot until you hear another click.

Step 9

Slide the SIM card partially out with your thumb.

  • Grasp the exposed portion firmly.
  • Remove the SIM card completely.
