Samsung Galaxy S III Battery Replacement

If you have a swollen battery, handle it carefully and follow proper safety procedures when replacing it.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Use a plastic opening tool or your fingernail to insert into the notch between the rear case and the phone's body.

  • Gently twist the tool to release the top clips holding the rear case in place.

Avoid using force, which may break the perimeter clips.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the top edge of the phone and twist it counterclockwise to pry open the gap.

  • Slide the tool left along the top edge.
  • Twist the tool again to widen the gap between the rear case and the phone.

Move the plastic opening tool around the top left corner, prying up the rear case.

  • Gently pry along the edges to avoid damage.

Step 4

Use a pry tool to pry along the top right side.

  • Continue prying down the right side of the rear case.

Step 5

Remove the rear case by lifting it upwards.

Peel it away carefully if stuck due to clips on the bottom of the phone.

Step 6 | Battery

Use your finger to pry the battery from its recess.

  • Locate the small notch above the battery.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the notch and pry the battery upwards.

Step 7

Disconnect and remove the battery.
