Samsung Galaxy S II Front Glass/Digitizer Replacement

This manual guides Samsung GALAXY SII owners through replacing a broken Touchscreen or LCD Display. The procedure for changing only these components is very challenging and requires significant experience.

A simpler alternative is replacing the Touchscreen&LCD display with frame, which is a slightly easier operation.
This variant is recommended for those without sufficient experience, as it offers a more accessible solution.

Step 1 | Front Glass and Digitizer

The device in question is a Samsung Galaxy S II with a damaged display.

Step 2

Remove the battery, SIM card, and SD card.
Unscrew the screws marked in red.

Step 3

Remove the rear housing with a plastic tool.

Step 4

Remove the 2x motherboard mounting screws.
Take out the screws from their respective slots.

Step 5

Remove the cables highlighted in red.

Disconnect them from their respective connectors.

Step 6

Locate and release the side buttons. The arrow icon on the screen indicates their position.

Step 7

Be cautious when releasing the motherboard to avoid damage.

Locate the motherboard mounting points and gently pry the board loose.
Work around the edges to avoid applying pressure on components or connections.

Step 8

Preheat the device using hot air to prevent damage to the components.

Remove the Touch Screen from the frame.
Disconnect LCD and Touch from the frame.

Step 9

Use a cutter to create space for a plastic tool.

Separate the Touchscreen & LCD Display from the frame.

Step 10

Careful handling is required for the menu button flex cable located on the bottom side of the touchscreen.

Release the menu button flex cable before detaching the digitizer from the frame.

Step 11

Use caution when removing the screen — risk of injury.

Remove the screen using a suction tool.

Step 12

Remove any remaining adhesive residue from the frame.

Step 13

Test the spare part prior to reassembly.

Step 14

Ensure the LCD&Digitiser is properly seated onto its housing.

Double-sided adhesive tape may not be included with spare parts, so consider purchasing it separately or a specific adhesive sticker designed for this model.

Step 15

Reassembly requires following the previous steps in reverse order.

Begin by reconnecting the last component you disconnected.
Continue with each step from bottom to top.
