Samsung Galaxy S II T989 Inner Plate Replacement
The inner plate must be removed before accessing internal components to prevent damage.
- The inner plate protects delicate wires and circuitry from physical harm.
- Remove the inner plate to access the motherboard, camera, volume control, and other internal components.
Step 1 | Rear Cover
Locate the rear cover tab marked with a red outline.
- Gently pry the rear cover using your fingertip.
Step 2 | SIM Card
Locate the SIM card, a small white rectangle situated within the red rectangle.
- Press down firmly on the SIM card and slide it towards the left.
- The card should no longer be in contact with the metal once removed successfully.
Step 3 | Media Card
Locate the media card within the red rectangle.
The card may be hard to see due to its small size and black color.
- Gently use your fingers to slide the card to the right, away from the metal edge.
- Continue until the card is no longer in contact with the metal.
Step 4 | Battery
Turn off the phone.
- Apply upward pressure to the battery at the bottom right edge (indicated by a red rectangle).
- Once the battery starts lifting, use your hand to hold and remove it.
Step 5 | Inner Plate
Remove the six M1.6 screws, located 1/16 inch from the inner plate's edges.
- Use a Philips head precision screwdriver to remove the screws.
- Set aside the screws in a safe location, such as a magnetic mat or plastic bag.
Step 6
Place device on grounded surface or use anti-static wristband when removing inner plate.
- Remove screws holding inner plate in place.
- Pinch plastic tabs firmly along edge, as shown
- Pull inner plate away from frame. If necessary, consider using a spudger to pry and lift out.
