If the battery is swollen, proceed with caution.

The next step in most repair guides is battery removal.

Step 1 | Backplate

Hold the phone with the rear side up.

Step 2

Locate the notch on the side of the phone's back plate.

Apply firm pressure around the back plate to release it.
The back plate should now be removable.

Step 3 | Battery

Use your index finger to gently pull the top of the battery.

Pull the battery towards you.
The battery should fall out easily.
