Samsung Galaxy R Rear Facing Camera Replacement

If your phone's rear camera is not functioning, you may have trouble sharing photos on social media.

  • Lift the motherboard to access the rear camera.
  • Unlatch the camera clip with your fingers or a tool before removing the camera.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Locate the opening near the headphone jack at the top of the phone.

  • Pry gently with your fingernail or a plastic tool to separate the rear case from the midframe.
  • Continue prying until the rear case can be removed.

Step 2 | Battery

Insert a fingernail or a plastic tool into the crevice on the lower left side of the back.

Pry gently to avoid damaging the battery or surrounding components.

  • Pry the battery from the back of the phone.

Step 3 | Remove screws

Remove the 7 x 4.0mm screws using a Phillips head screwdriver.

  • Be careful not to damage the rear case.

  • Insert your finger or an opening tool underneath the midframe and gently pry apart from the phone.

Step 4 | Bottom Panel

Insert a plastic spudger under the bottom panel near the bottom left side.

  • Pry the highlighted motherboard part from underneath the latched area.
  • Lift off the bottom panel.

Step 5 | Top Panel

Grasp the vibrator firmly using tweezers and pull away from the top panel with sufficient force to break the glue bond.

  • Be cautious not to damage surrounding components during removal.

  • Insert an opening tool underneath the top panel near the top left side of the back.
  • Lift the panel from the back of the phone with gentle care.

Step 6 | Rear Camera

Locate the rear-facing camera near the top center of the motherboard's underside.

  • Flip the orange clip marked with a red circle to release it.

  • Pull the camera module away from the motherboard.
