Samsung Galaxy R Motherboard Replacement
The motherboard is the main computer unit responsible for all computing power.
- Only replace if phone has serious issues with signal, data, or essential functions.
- To access speaker and rear-facing camera, lift motherboard by:
- Removing small screws
- Carefully pulling up multiple pieces of the board using fingers
Step 1 | Rear Case
Locate the opening adjacent to the headphone jack.
- Pry gently with your fingernail or a plastic tool.
- Separate the rear case from the midframe and remove it.
Step 2 | Battery
Insert a fingernail or plastic tool into the crevice on the lower left side of the back.
Be careful not to damage the surrounding casing.
Pry gently to remove the battery from the back of the phone.
Step 3 | Screws
Remove all 7 x 4.0 mm Phillips head screws, marked with red, using a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Insert your finger or an opening tool underneath the midframe.
- Gently pry apart from the phone.
Step 4 | Bottom Panel
- Insert an opening tool near the bottom left corner of the phone's back, beneath the bottom panel.
- Gently pry the indicated motherboard section away from its latching point underneath the phone.
- Lift the bottom panel off the phone's back.
Step 5 | Top Panel
Grasp the circular silver metal piece with tweezers and pull it away firmly.
- Insert an opening tool underneath the top panel near the top left side of the back of the phone.
- Lift the top panel from the back, using gentle force to break the glue bond.
Step 6 | Remove Motherboard
Careful not to damage adhesive components.
- Gently pull the motherboard from the back of the phone.
- Apply more force if necessary for areas with adhesive attachments.
