Samsung Galaxy R Headphone Jack Replacement

Ensure that the issue isn't caused by faulty headphones before troubleshooting the headphone jack.

  • Verify that multiple headphones have the same issue in the same jack.

The headphone jack is connected to the vibrator, so be careful not to damage either component when removing it.

To remove the headphone jack, gently pull on the assembly to disconnect it from the phone's circuit board.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Locate the opening near the headphone jack on top.

  • Insert your fingernail or a plastic tool into this gap.
  • Pry gently to separate the rear case from the midframe, then remove.

Step 2 | Battery

Locate the small gap on the lower left side of the phone's back.

  • Insert a fingernail or plastic tool into the gap.
  • Pry the battery gently away from the phone's back.

Step 3 | Screws

Remove all seven 4.0 mm screws, highlighted in red, using a Phillips head screwdriver.

  • Gently insert your finger or an opening tool underneath the midframe and pry apart from the phone.

Step 4 | Headphone Jack

Locate the headphone jack near the top left side of the motherboard.

Be careful not to touch any electronic components when handling the headphone jack.

  • Gently pull on the area indicated in red until the headphone jack detaches from the motherboard.
