Samsung Galaxy Prime Rear Facing Camera Replacement

Step 1 | Removing back cover

  • Insert a precision tool or fingernail into the power button side tab.
  • Lift on the tab and continue prying along the edges to remove the back cover.

Step 2 | Remove The Battery

Lift up the thumb tab at the bottom right corner of the battery bay.

Step 3 | Remove The SD And LCD Ribbon Cable

Locate the SD card and SIM card slots above the battery bay.

  • Slide the cards out of their respective slots.

Be careful not to touch any exposed components — risk of damage.

  • Insert an opening tool to lift up and remove the plastic plate covering the LCD ribbon cable.
  • Remove the plastic plate completely.

Step 4 | Removing screws

Remove the nine PH000 Phillips screws from the back using a PH000 Phillips screwdriver.

  • Set aside the screws on a magnetic mat or in a safe place.

Step 5 | Seperating Bezel and Screen

Use a heat gun or equivalent heating device to warm the screen edges lightly.

  • Insert an opening tool between the screen and plastic bezel, applying gentle pressure to separate them.
  • Alternatively, push the screen out of its original slot (where the battery was located).

Work quickly, but be cautious when separating the screen and bezel as excess glue can re-bond the parts if allowed to cool.

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the loudspeaker unit using a plastic spudger.

  • Lift the ribbon cable upwards from the top of the loudspeaker unit to release.

No need to remove the motherboard for this procedure.

Step 7 | Front Facing Camera

  • Disconnect the ribbon cable from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.
  • The camera is now free for removal.

Step 8 | Rear Facing Camera

Disconnect the LCD ribbon cable and front facing sensor using a plastic spudger.

Step 9

Flip the motherboard over.

  • Lift the edges of the motherboard and lift it out.

Be careful not to bend the rear facing camera ribbon connector.

  • Use a plastic spudger to disconnect the ribbon connector.
