Samsung Galaxy Prime Front Facing Camera Replacement
Step 1 | Removing back cover
Lift the back cover using an opening tool or fingernail.
- Pry the back cover from the power button side.
- Continue prying around the edges until fully removed.
Step 2 | Remove The Battery
Locate the thumb tab at the bottom right corner of the battery bay.
- Lift the thumb tab upwards to release the battery.
Step 3 | Remove The SD And LCD Ribbon Cable
Locate the SD and Sim cards above the battery bay.
- Slide the cards out for removal.
Be careful not to damage the card slots.
Next, use an opening tool to lift the plastic plate covering the LCD ribbon cable.
Once lifted, carefully remove the plastic plate.
Step 4 | Removing screws
Remove the nine PH000 screws from the back using a PH000 Phillips screwdriver.
- Set the screws aside on a magnetic mat or store them in a secure location.
Step 5 | Seperating Bezel and Screen
Be quick and gentle when separating the screen from the plastic bezel, as the adhesive may re-bond if it cools too slowly.
- Lightly heat the screen edges with a heat gun or similar device.
- Insert an opening tool between the screen and bezel, then apply pressure to separate them.
- Pull the screen out from the battery compartment slot to further separate the two parts.
Step 6
- Disconnect the ribbon cable from the loudspeaker unit using a plastic spudger.
- Lift upwards on the loudspeaker unit to release it.
You do not need to remove the motherboard for this procedure.
Step 7 | Front Facing Camera
Disconnect the ribbon cable from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.
- The camera can now be safely removed.
