Samsung Galaxy On5 Speaker Replacement

Careful not to damage surrounding components when accessing the Samsung Galaxy On5 speaker.

  • Remove the back panel using a plastic spudger.
  • The speaker is located in the lower part of the phone's rear casing.

Locate the side notching mechanism.

Pop off the back cover using a plastic prying tool or your finger.

  • Identify the battery notch and remove the battery using a finger or plastic prying tool.

Never use a metal pry tool as it may damage the SIM card, microSD card or their holders.

  • Remove the SIM card and from the phone.
  • Use a plastic pry tool to carefully slide both cards out.

Take care when opening the LCD ribbon cable cover — excessive force can damage the ribbon.

  • Use a plastic Spudger tool to pry open the LCD ribbon cable cover.
  • Pry carefully, taking your time to avoid damaging the LCD ribbon.

Never use a metal pry tool, as it may cause damage.

  • Use a plastic pry tool to carefully pry the LCD ribbon cable from the logic board.
  • The LCD ribbon cable sends signals from the logic board to the LCD screen.

Remove the Phillips #00 head screws using a suitable driver.

  • Remove all 9 identical-sized screws, taking note of their location for reinstallation.

Do not mix up or misplace the screws.

Use an iFixit plastic pick to pry away the LCD from the back assembly.

  • Be prepared for this process to take some time due to strong adhesive holding the LCD and back assembly together.

  • SLOWLY move around the edge of the screen to loosen the glue.

If available, use a heat gun to heat up the glue before prying.

Locate the speaker in the back assembly.

  • Use a plastic pry tool to remove the speaker from its housing.
  • Replace it with a new speaker.
