Samsung Galaxy On5 Display Assembly Replacement

The device features a 5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

Step 1 | Battery

Find the side slot where the back cover is secured.

  • Press down on the slot with your thumb or a tool.
  • Gently pry the back casing off from this point.

Insert a plastic spudger or use your finger to gently pry off the back cover.

Identify the battery notch and safely remove the battery using your finger or a plastic prying tool.

Never use a metal pry tool as it can damage the SIM card, microSD card, or their holder.

  • Remove the SIM card and microSD card.
  • Use a plastic pry tool to carefully slide both cards out.

Prying the LCD ribbon cable cover can cause damage if done improperly.

  • Use a plastic Spudger to gently pry open the cover.
  • Take your time, as this part may require some effort to remove.
  • Avoid applying excessive force, which can damage the ribbon cable.

Never use a metal pry tool — risk of damaging the logic board or the LCD ribbon cable.

  • Use a plastic pry tool to carefully pry the LCD ribbon cable from the logic board.
  • The LCD ribbon cable connects the logic board to the LCD screen.

Remove the Phillips #00 head from its storage location.

  • Locate and extract the nine identical screws.
  • Set aside all nine screws to avoid loss.

Use an iFixit plastic pick to carefully pry the LCD away from the back assembly.

  • Pry around the edge of the screen to loosen the glue.
  • If available, use a heat gun to heat the glue before prying.

Remove the speaker from the back assembly by using a plastic pry tool.

  • Use a plastic pry tool to gently lift the front-facing camera from its housing.

Disconnect the camera from the logic board.

Remove the front-facing camera successfully completed.

Step 13 | Rear-Facing Camera

Remove the screw securing the rear-facing camera using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

When using metal tools, always check where you place the bit to avoid damaging the motherboard.

Disconnect the headphone ribbon from the motherboard using a plastic pry tool.

  • Lift up on both sides of the logic board to remove it from the LCD housing.

Flip the logic board over, with the camera lens facing downwards.

  • Use your finger to gently pry the camera module loose from its connector on the logic board.

Step 16 | Motherboard

Reinstall the logic board.

  • Make sure all camera components are removed.

Insert a plastic stick into the headphone jack.

  • Lift part of the housing.
  • Set the lifted part aside.

Some force may be required; gently pry out the phone vibrator

  • Use the same tool to carefully remove the phone vibrator from its housing.
  • The part is secured with adhesive, so additional effort may be needed.

  • Place the removed components onto the new LCD screen.
