This repair guide is for replacing the front sensor array in a Samsung Galaxy Note9 device.
Remove the SIM card tray.
The SIM card may fall out during removal.
Disconnect power from your device.
Apply a suction handle to the back cover.
Do not apply excessive force if the adhesive won't budge — risk of breaking the glass.
Be cautious when cutting around the left edge near the fingerprint sensor to avoid damaging the internal ribbon cable.
Do not insert the opening pick more than halfway into the phone when cutting near the fingerprint sensor or cameras, as this may damage internal components.
Be careful near the corner, as the glass is very weak.
Leave that opening pick in the phone.
Apply gentle heat to the left side of the rear panel using a heat gun, hair dryer, or iOpener for 3 minutes.
Careful not to damage surrounding components when working near corners.
It is normal for opening picks to fall out as the back cover separates.
Be cautious when using opening tools and heat — risk of damage.
Do not remove the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable yet.
Use the tip of a spudger to carefully lift the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable out of its socket.
Remove the back cover.
Test your repair before reassembling.
Remove the nine 4 mm screws from the upper midframe using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert the spudger into the upper-left corner of the upper midframe.
Remove the wireless charging coil from the battery, beginning on the left side.
Reassembly: Snap the midframe into place before adhering the wireless charging coil.
Disconnect the orange ribbon cable from the motherboard using the tip of a spudger.
Remove the nine 4mm Phillips screws from the plastic cover next to the battery.
Remove the plastic cover located adjacent to the battery.
Insert the tip of a spudger into the top of the lower midframe.
Be gentle, as excessive force may damage other components.
Remove the lower midframe.
Use the tip of a spudger to carefully pry the front camera connector straight up and out of its socket.
Apply the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry out the front sensor connector from its socket.
Use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the display cable from the motherboard.
Disconnect the touchscreen cable from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.
Disconnect the charging assembly using the flat end of a spudger.
Identify the motherboard screw locations marked by triangles next to the holes.
Do not pull the motherboard out if it becomes snagged on any cables.
Do not rip or damage the foil — it may cause electrical issues.
Do not attempt to remove the front sensor array as it may be damaged.
Insert an opening pick under the front sensor array ribbon cable.
Cut the adhesive underneath carefully to avoid damage.
Remove the front sensor array with a pair of tweezers.
