The screen's fingerprint sensor is embedded, so replacing it may be required if the sensor isn't working.
Completely power off your phone before disassembly.
Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the rear cover, as close to the edge as possible.
Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear cover and the frame. Be cautious, as this may be difficult depending on your phone's age.
Insert an opening pick into the gap, but do not insert it more than 5 mm or you risk damaging internal components.
Insert the opening pick no more than 5 mm deep to avoid damaging internal components.
Continue heating and cutting along the remaining three sides of the rear cover.
If the rear cover is still attached after cutting all four sides, try slicing through the adhesive again with an opening pick.
Remove the rear cover by lifting it straight up.
Be aware that the 4.0 mm screws have threadlocker for added security.
Careful handling is required for the motherboard shield, as its edges are thin and sharp.
Avoid damaging the socket or surrounding components.
Use tweezers to hold the motherboard shield aside.
Hold the motherboard shield firmly.
Disconnect the display cable from the motherboard using the pointed end of a spudger.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to disconnect the touch layer cable from the motherboard.
Remove the screen. Weaken the adhesive at the perimeter of the screen using a tool, then carefully cut through it.
Apply a preheated iOpener to the top of the screen for two minutes.
When using an alternative heat source like a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, exercise caution to avoid overheating and damaging the phone's screen or internal battery.
Apply a suction cup to the heated top edge of the screen, as close to the edge as possible.
Be careful when handling the screen, as it may be fragile.
Insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap at a steep angle.
Insert a third opening pick into the initial gap.
Push the center opening pick further into the phone to separate the adhesive around the earpiece speaker and front-facing camera.
Heat an iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-adhesion.
Insert the tip of an opening pick under the center of the right edge of the screen at a steep angle.
Push down the opening pick so that it is level with the screen to avoid applying too much pressure and cracking the screen.
Leave the opening pick in the center of the right edge of the screen to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.
Alternatively:
Heat an iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Insert the tip of an opening pick under the center of the left edge of the screen at a steep angle.
Push down the opening pick so that it is level with the screen, taking care not to apply too much pressure.
If there is still resistance around the edges of the screen, use an opening pick to cut the adhesive again.
Apply 2-3 drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol under the right edge of the screen.
Wait at least two minutes for the adhesive to weaken.
Avoid lifting the screen higher than a 15 degree angle above the frame to prevent damage.
Remove the screen by threading the display cable and touch layer cable through their respective cutouts in the frame.
Make sure the display cable's clips are aligned with the metal bracket on the frame to prevent damage during reassembly.
Remove the screen.
Incorrect adhesive application may compromise repair quality and screen durability.
