Discharge the battery to below 25% to prevent damage and thermal risks, especially for swollen batteries.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note20 rear cover removal requires this guide.
  • Prepare your phone by discharging the battery to at least 25% or less before proceeding with disassembly.
  • Take extra precautions if your battery is swollen.

Step 1 | Heat the rear cover

Power off your phone completely before starting disassembly.

Be cautious when using heat to loosen the rear cover: overheating can damage the screen, internal battery, or plastic components.

  • Apply an iOpener to the left side of the rear cover for one minute to loosen it.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but monitor temperature and avoid overheating.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the rear cover, as close to the edge as possible.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear cover and the frame.
  • If having trouble, apply more heat and try again — difficulty may vary depending on phone age.

Insert an opening pick into the gap no deeper than 5 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 3 | Begin to cut the adhesive
