Discharge the battery to below 25% before disassembly to prevent damage and thermal events.

  • If your phone has a swollen battery, take necessary precautions when handling it.

Step 1 | Heat the rear cover

Step 1 image

Completely power off your phone.

  • Heat an iOpener and apply it to the left side of the rear cover for one minute.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun or hot plate with caution: never overheat, as this can damage the screen, internal battery or plastic rear cover.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the rear cover, as close to the edge as possible.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear cover and the frame.
  • If necessary, apply more heat to the edge and try again, depending on your phone's age.

Insert an opening pick into the gap, but be cautious not to push it more than 5 mm into the phone to avoid damaging internal components.
