Samsung Galaxy Note10 Battery Replacement

Discharging the battery to below 25% reduces the risk of a thermal event during repair.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note10 battery removal or replacement requires this guide.
  • If battery is swollen, take necessary precautions before proceeding.
  • Discharge battery to below 25% before disassembling phone for safety.

Step 1 | Heat the back panel

Step 1 image

Completely power off your phone before disassembly.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back panel for one minute.
  • If using, a hair dryer or heat gun should be used carefully, taking care not to overheat the phone as the display and internal battery can be damaged by excessive heat.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the back panel, as close to the edge as possible.

  • If your back glass is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Alternatively, use very strong tape instead of a suction cup or superglue it in place.

Be careful not to damage the surrounding components when attempting removal.

Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the back panel and the frame.

  • Apply more heat to the edge if needed to aid in separation.
  • Insert the point of an opening pick into the gap once a sufficient gap has been created.

Step 3 | Begin to slice the adhesive

Risk of damage to internal components if the pick is inserted more than halfway.

  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge towards the bottom left corner.
  • Stop when about half way, then gently pry and slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 4 | Slice the left side adhesive

Insert a second opening pick

  • Slide it across the left side towards the top left corner.
  • Slice the adhesive as you go.

Leave the pick inserted in the top left corner to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 5 | Slice the top side adhesive

Step 5 image

Apply heat from an iOpener to the top edge of the phone for 1 minute.

Insert a third opening pick into the top edge gap.

  • Slide it to the top right corner, cutting the adhesive.
  • Leave it in place to keep the adhesive from re-sealing.

Step 7 | Slice the right side adhesive

Step 7 image

Apply iOpener to the right edge of the phone for 1 minute.

Insert a fourth opening pick into the right side gap.

  • Slide it down towards the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.
  • The back panel will separate from the phone as you approach the bottom edge.

Check for and reheat stuck areas if necessary.

Slide an opening pick around the perimeter of the phone to release any remaining adhesive.

Locate the metal shielding and tilt it upwards for easy handling.

  • Peel the wireless charging coil away from the device, starting at one edge.
  • The wireless charging coil is secured by a light adhesive.

Be gentle when removing the wireless charging coil to avoid damaging its connectors.

Once peeled back, remove the wireless charging coil completely.

Step 15 | Remove the loudspeaker screws

Step 15 image

Remove the loudspeaker's Phillips screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • The screws are located on the speaker's frame. There are five in total.

Excessive use of isopropyl alcohol may damage the display.

  • Apply 1-2 drops of high concentration (90% or greater) isopropyl alcohol underneath the battery at the tear-shaped indents near the corners of the battery well.
  • Wait about two minutes for the liquid to penetrate and weaken the battery adhesive before proceeding.

Step 22 | Remove the battery

Step 22 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup to the back of the battery and pull up with strong, steady force.

If separation is difficult, add 1-2 drops of isopropyl alcohol underneath the battery, wait 2 minutes, then try again.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap between the battery and frame, but not more than halfway to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor.
  • Pull up on the suction cup to remove the battery.

After using isopropyl alcohol, wait 10 minutes before installing the new battery.

Secure the new battery with stretch release adhesive strips, double-sided adhesive tape, or pre-cut adhesive when reassembling your phone.
