Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G Screen Replacement

This repair guide is for Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G owners who need to remove or replace their screen. Due to the device's design, you'll have to remove the back panel to access the screen cable. Before starting, acquire replacement adhesives for both panels.

  • This guide is based on the non-5G Note10+, but steps should be applicable with minor adjustments.
  • Note that some images may appear slightly inaccurate due to production variations, but this shouldn't impact the overall repair procedure.

Step 1 | Heat the rear cover

Step 1 image

Completely power off your phone before disassembly.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the rear cover for one minute.
  • A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may be used instead; however, be careful not to overheat the phone, as the display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Step 2 image

Apply a suction cup as close to the heated edge of the rear cover as possible.

If your rear cover is badly cracked, use clear packing tape or very strong tape for better adhesion.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear cover and the frame.
  • Apply more heat if needed, as the difficulty of removal may depend on your phone's age.

Insert the point of an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 3 | Begin to slice the adhesive

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 3

Risk of damage to internal components if opening pick is inserted more than halfway.

  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge towards the bottom left corner to cut the adhesive.
  • Avoid inserting the pick deeper than halfway into the phone.
  • Leave the pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 4 | Slice around the perimeter of the phone

Step 4 image

Continue heating and cutting around the remaining three sides of the phone.

  • Leave an opening pick on each side before moving on to the next one.
  • This will prevent the adhesive from resealing as you work.

The rear cover may begin to separate from the phone once all sides are complete.

Step 5 | Lift off the rear cover

Step 5 image

Lift the rear cover straight up to remove it.

Turn on your device and test your repair before installing new adhesive and resealing the device — improper sealing can damage internal components.

  • Follow this guide for reinstallation of the rear cover and replacement of the adhesive.
  • If using Tesa tape to reattach components, refer to this guide for instructions.

Step 6 | Lift up the metal cover

Step 6 image

Remove the wireless charging coil using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Take out the five 4 mm screws.

Peel the wireless charging coil away from the device, as it's secured by light adhesive.

  • Tilt the metal shielding up to access the coil.
  • Grip the shielding with your fingers and continue to lift.
  • Once freed, remove the wireless charging coil.

Step 11 | Disconnect the display cable

Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully disconnect the display cable from the motherboard.

Do not press down on the middle of re-attachable connectors.

  • To attach, align and press one side until it clicks into place, then repeat on the other side.
  • Be careful not to misalign the connector, as bent pins can cause permanent damage.

Step 12 | Disconnect the touch layer

  • Disconnect the S-Pen touch layer cable connector using the pointed end of a spudger.

Step 13 | Loosen the adhesive

Step 13 image

Apply heat carefully to avoid damaging the display or internal battery.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the display for one minute.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat.

Step 14 | Slice the left side adhesive

Step 14 image

Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the display, as close as possible.

If your screen is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape or use strong tape instead of the suction cup.

  • Super glue the suction cup to the broken display as a last resort.

Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the display and frame.

If having trouble, apply more heat and try again, noting that difficulty may vary by phone age.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap at the point of entry.

Step 15

Risk of damage to internal components if opening pick is inserted too far.

  • Slide the opening pick along the left side towards the bottom left corner.
  • Avoid inserting the opening pick more than halfway into the phone.
  • Leave the opening pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-sealing of adhesive.

Step 16

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom right edge and slide it towards the top left corner.

Make sure this pick remains lodged in the top left corner to prevent the adhesive from sealing over again.

Step 17 | Slice the bottom side adhesive

Step 17 image

Apply iOpener to the bottom edge of the phone for 1 minute.

Step 18

Insert a third opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge of the phone.

  • Slide the pick towards the bottom right corner and slice through the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place at the bottom right corner to prevent re-sealing.

Step 19 | Slice the top side adhesive

Apply iOpener to right edge of phone for 1 minute.

Step 22

Insert an opening pick at the top right corner and slide it down towards the bottom right corner.

  • The display will separate from the phone as you approach the bottom edge.
  • Reheat if necessary, then move the opening pick around the entire perimeter to release any remaining adhesive.

Step 23 | Remove the screen

Step 23 image

Do not attempt to fully detach the screen at this time.

Risk of damage to cables routed through the frame.

  • Lift the screen up from the top edge of the phone, ensuring a clean lifting point.
  • Aim for a lift angle of approximately 15° above the device.

Step 24

Thread the display and S-Pen touch layer cables through their cutouts in the phone frame.

  • Remove the display.
  • Scrape off any leftover adhesive to ensure a clean surface for the new display.

  • Follow the instructions in this guide to apply adhesive to the replacement screen correctly.
