Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G Battery Replacement

Discharge your battery below 25% before disassembling to reduce thermal event risk, especially if it's swollen.

  • This guide is for removing or replacing the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G battery.
  • Some steps are written for the non-5G model due to similarity in design.

Note that minor image discrepancies may appear, but they won't affect the overall repair procedure.

Step 1 | Heat the rear cover

Step 1 image

Power off your phone completely before disassembling.

  • iOpener should be applied to the left edge of the rear cover for one minute.
  • A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may also be used, but be careful not to overheat your phone.
  • The display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup near the heated edge of the rear cover.

  • If the rear cover is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Use strong tape as an alternative to the suction cup if necessary.

Be cautious when handling superglue due to its potential harm.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear cover and frame.
  • If this is difficult, apply more heat and try again as needed.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 3 | Begin to slice the adhesive

Slide the opening pick along the left edge towards the bottom left corner to slice the adhesive.

  • Be careful not to insert the pick more than halfway into the phone, as this can damage internal components.
  • Leave the pick inserted in the bottom left corner to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

Step 4 | Slice around the perimeter of the phone

Continue the heating and cutting process on the remaining three sides.

  • Leave an opening pick on each side before moving to the next side.
  • This prevents the adhesive from resealing during the process.

The rear cover will begin to separate, so be careful not to let it fall off.

Step 5 | Lift off the rear cover

Excessive use of isopropyl alcohol may damage the display.

  • Apply 1-2 drops of high concentration (90% or greater) isopropyl alcohol underneath the battery at the tear-shaped indents near the corners of the battery well.
  • Allow a minute for the isopropyl alcohol to penetrate and weaken the battery adhesive before proceeding.

Apply a suction cup to the back of the battery.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to start separating the battery from the frame.
  • If separation is difficult, apply more drops of isopropyl alcohol, let it sit for two minutes, and try again.

Do not insert an opening pick more than halfway or you may damage the fingerprint sensor.

  • Insert the point of an opening pick into the gap created between the battery and frame.
  • Pull up on the suction cup to remove the battery.

Wait ten minutes after using isopropyl alcohol before installing a new battery.

  • When reassembling, remove old adhesive and apply new adhesive (stretch release strips or double-sided tape) to secure the new battery.
