This repair guide covers replacing the headphone jack and earpiece speaker assembly in a Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone.
Remove stylus from midframe by grasping its end.
Use a plastic opening tool or your finger nail to pry at the small indentation located just to the left of the rear-facing camera and next to the power button.
Lift the rear case by its upper right corner, closest to the divot, and pull it off the phone.
Press the microSD card into its slot with a spudger or fingernail until you hear a click.
Do not remove the SD card yet, it will pop out after clicking.
For reassembly, press the microSD card into its slot until it clicks in place.
Position the plastic opening tool in the notch of the battery compartment.
Disconnect the battery held within the midframe.
Locate the phone's midframe and front panel assembly.
Run the plastic opening tool down the seam.
Avoid damaging the surrounding components.
Use a plastic opening tool to pry along the top of the phone.
Insert plastic opening tool at an angle and press down on the midframe, freeing it from the display assembly.
Remove the clips along the power button side of the phone.
Remove the display assembly from the midframe.
Remove the following connectors:
Careful with the connectors, as they can be fragile.
Use a 3 mm Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw holding the motherboard to the display assembly.
Remove the motherboard with care, holding it by its edges to prevent electrostatic damage.
Remove the 3 mm Phillips #00 screw securing the headphone jack assembly to the display assembly.
Lift the headphone jack out of its groove in the display assembly.
Damage to the cable can occur if twisted or pulled unevenly.
