Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Ear Speaker/Power Button Replacement

The Power Button and Ear Speaker are a single unit that must be replaced together.

  • The Power Button controls power on/off and resets the phone.
  • The Ear Speaker is responsible for sound during phone calls.

Step 1 | Battery

Turn off the device completely.

  • Position the phone face-down on a clean, flat surface.

Use a plastic spudger to remove the back cover from the phone through the notch in the top left corner.

  • Remove the battery using your plastic spudger on the notch below the battery location.
  • Note: The guide authors did not have access to a battery for testing purposes.

Step 3 | Motherboard

Remove the SIM card from its holder by sliding it horizontally.

  • For the stylus, carefully remove it from its holder.

Use a Phillips #000 Screwdriver to remove the 15 x 4mm screws.

  • Insert a spudger into the stylus socket and pry the midframe from the phone.
  • Pry around the edge of the phone, carefully working your way around until the midframe is entirely separated.

  • Disconnect the pink and white wires using the pointed end of your spudger, found near the bottom of the phone.
  • Using the pointed end of your spudger, disconnect the fingerprint scanner cable located above the pink and white cables.

Risk of damage to internal components if incorrect lead removal.

  • Use the pointed end of your Spudger to carefully pry off the leads for the Front Facing Camera.
  • Next, disconnect the leads from the AMOLED Display Screen.
  • Finally, remove the leads connected to the AMOLED Capacitive Screen.

Insert the pointed end of a spudger under the motherboard's top edge.

  • Lift the motherboard upwards, being gentle to avoid damage.
  • Disconnect the cable connected to the daughter board on the underside.
  • Remove the motherboard from the device completely.

Step 8 | Ear Speaker and Power Button

Insert the pointed end of the spudger under the gold ribbon.

  • Lift the ribbon to disconnect it from the frame.

Locate the phone's speaker on the left side.

  • Spunder tool: insert pointed end under an edge of the speaker.
  • Gently pry the speaker and power button from its home using the spudger.
  • Remove the power button carefully.

Power Button must be reinserted first when reassembling device.
