Samsung Galaxy Note5 Power Button Replacement

Remove the back glass carefully — risk of damage or injury.

  • Take out the two screws securing the back glass.
  • Gently pry up the back glass with a plastic spudger.
  • Separate the middle housing from the rear case using a screwdriver.
  • Remove the power button connector and any other necessary parts.

Step 1 | SIM Card Tray

Insert the SIM Ejector Tool into the small hole on the left side of the top edge.

Press firmly down until the SIM Card Tray starts to come out.

Locate and remove the SIM Card Tray from its slot.

Step 3 | Power Button

Apply heat gun to the back of the device for 2 minutes.

Careful handling is required as the device may still be hot.

  • Position a suction cup near the bottom of the back, on the flat part of the glass.
  • Gently pull upwards on the suction cup to separate the rear glass from the phone body.
  • Insert a pick under the rear glass while pulling it away.

Insert the iSclack tool or similar into the device's seam.

  • Move the tool slowly down the left edge of the device.
  • Do not press too hard and damage the display.

  • Continue moving the tool along the bottom edge until you reach the right side.

Continue removing adhesive with heat and a spudger on the remaining three sides.

  • Leave a pick in place on each side as you move to the next.

Remove the rear glass, lifting upwards carefully after all adhesive has been cut.

Remove the S-Pen from the bottom of the device.

Use a Phillips #1 Screwdriver to remove twenty 5mm screws.

Press down on the white button located at the back of the device.

Be gentle — if not pressed correctly, damage may occur.

  • Grip the back of the device firmly with one hand.
  • Apply downward pressure on the white button until it clicks.

Hold the tweezers to loosen the power button flex adhesive.

  • Pry up the power button flex with the tweezers.
  • Remove the power button flex once loose.

Step 12

Use tweezers to push out the power button from its socket.
