Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Rear Facing Camera Replacement

This guide is for replacing the rear-facing camera in a Galaxy Note 4.

Step 1 | Rear Facing Camera

Remove the back cover by hand or with a plastic tool.

  • Disconnect the battery connector.
  • Eject the SIM card and remove the S Pen.

Remove all 16 screws from the back using a screwdriver.

Remove the LCD screen sticker. Loosen the clasps surrounding the battery slot.

  • Push the front assembly forward from the middle housing.

Locate the rear camera connector attached to the back of the motherboard.

The motherboard must be removed first, as it covers access to the rear camera connector.

  • Disengage the rear camera connector from the motherboard.
  • Set aside the motherboard for later reinstallation.

Remove the LCD screen before taking out the motherboard.

For rear camera removal only, do not remove LCD from assembly.

  • Screwdriver: Remove one screw on left side of motherboard.
  • Disconnect flex cables with a plastic spudger, taking care of two connections underneath the board.

Disconnect the connectors from the motherboard.

Remove the screws, taking care to leave the other one in place.

  • Pry up and release the USB board connector using a plastic spudger.
  • Once clear, carefully lift out the motherboard.

Disconnect the rear camera connector and take it off.
