Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Micro-USB Port Daughterboard Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing the Micro-USB port daughterboard on a Galaxy Note 4.

Remove the back cover using a fingertip or vinyl spudger.

  • Take out the S-Pen.
  • Disconnect the battery, SIM card, and MicroSD card (if installed).

Remove the sixteen 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws.

  • The screws secure the midframe to the display assembly.

Use a low heat setting to carefully remove the sticker along the side edge of the touch panel.

Free the clasps along the battery slot.

Pull the front assembly out from the middle housing with effort.

Cannot access USB board directly due to flex connector attachment on motherboard backplane.

  • Remove LCD screen before accessing motherboard.
  • USB board assembly is underneath touch panel, along with two touch keys.

Must remove both motherboard and LCD screen prior to further disassembly.

  • Cut the adhesive underneath the screen.
  • Release the connectors attached to the screen.
  • Remove the LCD screen.

Disconnect the signal flex cables. Remove the screws that secure the USB board and motherboard.

Disconnect all motherboard connectors.

Locate the motherboard and gently pry it up.

  • Release the USB board connector from the back of the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 USB board replacement is complex and requires caution.

  • Loosen touch keys from adhesive using a gentle prying motion.
  • Pry up and remove the USB board after loosening the adhesives.

Careful removal of other components, such as the LCD screen and motherboard, is also required prior to replacing the USB board.
