Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Headphone Jack Replacement

Replacing the headphone jack in your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 requires this guide.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Insert fingernail or plastic opening tool into the divot to the left of the rear-facing camera.

  • Pry gently while twisting to remove the flexible rear cover.
  • Continue prying and twisting until the rear cover comes off completely from the back of the phone.

Step 2 | Battery

Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the recess at the bottom right corner of the battery.

Lift upward to release the battery.

  • Remove the battery.

Step 3 | SIM Card

Push the SIM card slightly out of its housing.

  • Pull the card the rest of the way to remove it completely.

Step 4 | Midframe

  • Remove the 16 4.0mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe to the display assembly.
  • Remove the S Pen from its slot in the midframe by grasping the cap and pulling it out.

Insert a plastic opening tool between midframe and display assembly.

  • Work plastic opening tool around phone's perimeter to break adhesive.
  • No heat gun required, as adhesive is relatively weak.
  • Careful not to separate front glass panel from rest of display assembly.

Step 6

Insert the plastic opening tool into the gap and gently pry the clasps away from the battery housing.

Apply sufficient pressure to separate the display assembly from the midframe.

  • Push on the battery housing to release the two parts.
  • If your new midframe lacks a headphone jack assembly, carefully transfer it from the old one using plastic opening tools and remove the retaining plastic pins.

Step 8 | Headphone Jack

  • Remove the headphone jack using a plastic spudger and tweezers.

Step 9

Use a pry tool to gently lift the headphone jack from its position on the midframe.
