Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Front Facing Camera Replacement

This guide is for replacing the front-facing camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the divot to the left of the rear-facing camera.

Be gentle when prying and twisting, as excessive force can damage the phone's flexible rear cover.

  • Pry and twist the flexible rear cover off the back of the phone.

Step 2 | Battery

Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the recess in the bottom right corner of the battery.

  • Lift upward to secure the tool and begin removing the battery.
  • Continue lifting until the battery is completely removed.

Step 3 | SIM Card

Push the SIM card gently from its housing.

  • Pull the card fully out of its holder.

Step 4 | Midframe

Remove all screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Securely grasp the S Pen cap and pull it out of the midframe.

Insert a plastic opening tool between the midframe and display assembly.

  • Work the plastic opening tool around the perimeter to break the adhesive.
  • This adhesive is relatively weak, so no heat gun should be used.
  • Be careful not to separate the front glass panel from the rest of the display assembly.

Loosen the clasps around the battery housing with a plastic opening tool.

  • Push on the battery housing until the midframe and display assembly separate.
  • A fair amount of pressure may be required to achieve this separation.
  • If your new midframe lacks a headphone jack assembly, transfer it from the old midframe.
  • The existing assembly can be removed with plastic opening tools, which dislodge its holding pins.

Step 8 | Motherboard

Remove the two 2.9 mm Phillips #00 screws.

Remove the tweezers from storage and carefully use them to disconnect the two antenna cables.

Disconnect the two ribbon cable connectors using a pair of tweezers or the flat end of a spudger.

Step 11

Hold the motherboard firmly and gently lift it out of the phone.

Step 12 | Front Facing Camera

Lift up the metal tab with tweezers.

  • Turn the motherboard over.

Step 13 | Unclip Plastic Clips

Flip the motherboard over.

  • Rear camera clips: unclip using fingers.
  • There are two plastic clips to release.
